Share of voice in AI answers

Visibility tells you whether you appear. Share of voice tells you how much of the conversation is yours. Aivting tracks up to 10 competitors per project on the same prompts, so you can see who gets named when you don't.

What share of voice means in AI answers

Share of voice is your brand's mentions as a share of all mentions of the brands you track, yours and your current competitors. Each brand counts once per answer.

For example, across 40 usable answers a brand is named in 12, one competitor in 20 and another in 4. That is 36 mentions in total, so the brand's share of voice is 12 ÷ 36, or 33%, while its visibility is 12 ÷ 40, or 30%. Same answers, two different questions. The formula is in share of voice.

Up to 10 competitors per project, side by side

Add the brands your buyers compare you with, up to 10 per project on every plan. They are measured on the same prompts, in the same runs, with the same filters, so the comparison is like for like.

The summary table lists each tracked brand with its visibility and the number of answers that name it. On the chart, each brand gets its own line, one point per day. See competitors for how they are added and removed.

Why your competitor list changes the maths

Add a competitor and your share of voice can fall without anything changing in the answers, because the total grows. In the example above, a fourth brand named in 8 answers takes your share from 33% to 27%, and your visibility stays at 30%.

Two rules keep this readable. A competitor you add is counted only in answers collected after you add it. A competitor you remove drops out of every count, past ones included. So keep the list stable for as long as you want to compare periods.

Position among the brands you track

Average position is your order among tracked brands. A brand you don't track doesn't take position 1, which is another reason to keep the list honest. It tells you when you are named, not how you are described.

Compared to what? Always the same sample

Every figure shows its n, and the filters apply to the whole page: the headline boxes, the chart, the prompts table and the exports. Share of voice is shown only when mentions exist, and it counts active prompts only. When a number moves, you can open the answers and read why.

How competitor tracking works

  1. Add the competitors your buyers weigh you against, up to 10 per project.

  2. Start a run. Every tracked brand is detected in the same answers.

  3. Read share of voice, visibility and position side by side, filtered by engine, date and tag.

  4. Open an answer to see which competitor was named and where.

Share of voice: common questions

What is the difference between share of voice and visibility?

Visibility is the share of answers that name you. Share of voice is your mentions out of all mentions of tracked brands. The first ignores competitors; the second depends on them.

How many competitors can I track?

Up to 10 per project, on every plan.

Why did my share of voice drop when I added a competitor?

The total number of mentions grew, so your slice got smaller. Your visibility doesn't change, because it only counts answers that name you.

Does a removed competitor disappear from past data?

Yes. A removed competitor drops out of every count, including past ones. A newly added one counts only in answers collected after you add it.
